  • structures (schools/colleges, departments, centers/institutes)
  • curriculum (courses)

Examples of analytic activities include:

  • enrollment modeling and enrollment projections
  • student retention/graduation rates and time-to-degree
  • faculty recruiting, retention, turnover, and scholarly activity
  • faculty and administrative salary comparisons
  • curricular outcomes, including grading patterns
  • student enrollment patterns and outcomes by program

APIR is also the academic planning office for UW-Madison. We serve as the institutional liaison to the Higher Learning Commission for accreditation and support academic planning activities including:

  • approvals of new courses and course changes
  • staff support to the University Curriculum Committee (UCC) and the University Academic Planning Council (UAPC).
  • approvals of new academic programs and changes to existing programs
