  1. Welcome, introductions, opening announcements. Thank you all for your service this year. This will be the last meeting for several of you, and I extend a special thanks to these Council members: Wendy Crone, Ben Emmel, Mark Eriksson, Linda Oakley, and Kris Olds. I appreciate the service of Kate Bartlett, Bruno Browning, and Dorothy Farrar-Edwards who have completed their terms as shared governance appointees and may be reappointed.

CONSENT AGENDA

  1. Minutes of the April 23, 2015, meeting. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.01
  2. Approve Capstone Certificate in Resource and Energy Demand Analysis, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. This program will be a non-pooled tuition program developed under Educational Innovation and delivered as a distance program. The first cohort will be enrolled in Fall 2015. The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics is up to date for program review. This action was approved at the May 8, 2015, Graduate Faculty Executive Committee Meeting (GFEC) meeting.   3. Approve Graduate/Professional Certificate in Nurse Educator, School of Nursing. The program will be offered as an online, distance-delivered program. The program will be implemented in Spring 2016. The School of Nursing is up to date for program review. This action was approved at the May 8, 2015, GFEC meeting. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.03

This program will be a non-pooled tuition program developed under Educational Innovation and delivered as a distance program. The first students will be enrolled in Fall 2016. Master of Engineering programs are up to date for program review. This action was approved at the May 8, 2015, GFEC meeting. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.04
  6. Establish a new named option in the Master of Engineering, Engineering major, Option: Applied Computing and Engineering Data Analytics, Department of Engineering Professional Development, College of Engineering. This program will be a non-pooled tuition program developed under Educational Innovation and delivered as a distance program. The first students will be enrolled Summer 2016. Master of Engineering are up to date for program review. This action was approved at the June 5, 2015, GFEC meeting. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.05
  7. Discontinue the association of the undergraduate major Polish with the Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education. This action does not affect the BA/BS-Polish that is housed in the Department of Slavic Languages & Literature, College of Letters and Science. This action is effective Summer 2015.   8. Discontinue the association of the undergraduate major Russian with the Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education. This action does not affect the BA/BS-Russian that is housed in the Department of Slavic Languages & Literature, College of Letters and Science. This action is effective Summer 2015.   9. Reorganize the graduate program in the Department of Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, College of Letters and Science. The programs in the Classics Department were last reviewed in 2002-2003. With this reorganization, we are scheduling the next review of the programs in the reorganized department for 2017-2018. This action was approved at the June 5, 2015, GFEC meeting. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.07
    1. Rename the graduate program, MA/PhD in Classics to MA/PhD in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. This action is effective Fall 2016 and implementation will be turnkey with all new and continuing students switching to the new name in Fall 2016.
    2. Establish a new named option in the MA/PhD in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Option: Classics. This action is effective Fall 2016.
    3. Establish a new named option in the MA/PhD in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Option: Hebrew Bible. This action is effective Fall 2016.
    4. Discontinue the MA in Greek. This action is effective Fall 2015.
    5. Discontinue the MA in Latin. This action is effective Fall 2015.
    6. Suspend admissions to the graduate program in Hebrew and Semitic Studies. This action is effective Fall 2015. The program must submit a plan to reopen or discontinue by September 2017.

  12. Change the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code for the MS/PhD in Environment and Resources, Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, from 03.0206 Land Use Planning and Management to 03.0103 Environmental Studies. The change will be effective in Fall 2015. UAPC Doc 2015.06.18.10
  13. Suspend admissions to the undergraduate-level Certificate in Celtic Studies, Department of History, College of Letters and Science. Five students are currently enrolled in the program. The faculty will continue to teach out the students already admitted to the program. This action is effective Fall 2015. The program must submit a plan to reopen or discontinue by September 2017.   1. Approve undergraduate-level Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering. Presenters: Frank Pfefferkorn, Mechanical Engineering; Jake Blanchard, Associate Dean, College of Engineering. The College of Engineering is up to date on program review.   2. Restructure the undergraduate-level Certificate in Introductory Studies in Dance/Movement Therapy to allow Dance majors and University Special students to complete the certificate.   3. Restructure the International Institute as the Institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS). Presenters: Richard Keller, associate dean, Division of International Studies; Guido Podestá, Vice Provost/Dean, Division of International Studies; Karl Scholz, Dean, College of Letters and Science.
