  1. Automatic Consent – Minutes of the December 17, 2015, meeting. UAPC Doc 2016.21.01
  2. Discontinue the grad/professional Certificate in International Law and Business, Law School. No student has earned the certificate since May 2004 and no students are declared in the certificate. This action will be effective Fall 2016. UAPC Doc 2016.01.21.02
  3. Discontinue the grad/professional Certificate in Environmental Law and Policy, Law School. No student has earned the certificate since May 2005 and no students are declared in the certificate. This action will be effective Fall 2016. UAPC Doc 2016.01.21.03
  4. Discontinue the subject listing Physical Education Activity, Department of Kinesiology, School of Education. There are no active courses in this subject listing. This action is effective Fall 2016. UAPC Doc 2016.1.21.04

APPROVAL ITEMS

  1. Discontinue the named option Structural Systems Engineering in the undergraduate Biological Systems Engineering degree/major, Department of Biological Systems Engineering, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Fall 2015 will be the last term that students can enter enrollment in the named option. Admissions will be suspended as of Spring 2016. The final term for enrollment in and being awarded the Structural Systems Engineering named option will be Spring 2018. There are currently 19 students enrolled in the Structural Systems Engineering named option; these students will have until Spring 2018 to complete the option. After that, they will be shifted to the no-option major. Students who stop out will be re-entered into the Biological Systems Engineering degree/major without a named option.   2. Approve the report of the committee that conducted the five-year review of the MS/PhD Clinical Investigation, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. The Graduate Faculty Executive Committee (GFEC) discussed the review at their December 11, 2015, meeting. Presenter: Seth Blair, UAPC member and program review committee chair. UAPC Doc 2016.01.21.06
  3. Approve the Undergraduate General Education Committee (UGEC) report including the learning goals for general education requirements. Presenter: Elaine Klein, assistant dean, College of Letters & Science, and chair of the UGEC.UAPC Doc 2016.01.21.07

  2. Proposed Policy on Minimum Qualifications for Instructional Staff. UW-Madison does not currently have a policy on instructor qualifications; this policy was prepared to fill this critical gap. The Higher Learning Commission has established a new policy on minimum qualifications of instructors and this policy is also intended to be aligned with the HLC policy.
