3.Automatic Consent – Rename the “Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection” to the “Center for Integrative Design.”This is a center in the School of Human Ecology.By UAPC policy, renaming of centers is an automatic consent item.UAPC Doc 2012.04.19.02.

4.Automatic Consent – Approval to add a new partner institution to the MS in Business: Real Estate & Urban Land Economics, Option: Global Real Estate Masters (GREM), School of Business.The new partner is the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).Consideration is conditional on approval at the April 13, 2012 Graduate Faculty Executive Committee (GFEC) meetingUAPC Doc 2012.4.19.03.

5.Automatic Consent – Approval to discontinue selected named options in the graduate program in Languages and Cultures of Asia, Department of Languages and Cultures of Asia, College of Letters & Sciences.Specific options to be discontinued are the MA options “Languages and Literature” and “South Asian Studies” and the PhD option “Buddhist Studies.”These actions were approved at the March 9, 2012 GFEC meeting.UAPC Doc 2012.04.19.04.

6.Automatic Consent – Approval of the Capstone Certificate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Department of Communicative Disorders, College of Letters and Sciences.Consideration is conditional on approval at the April 13, 2012 GFEC meetingUAPC Doc 2012.04.19.05.

7.Approval Item – Discontinue the named option “Child Development and Preschool Teaching” associated with the undergraduate major “Human Development and Family Studies” in the School of Human Ecology.Wendy Way, associate dean, will attend the meeting to answer any questions. The School of Human Ecology has not offered the program for several years and no students are enrolled in the program.UAPC Doc 2012.04.19.06.

8.Approval Item – Certificate in Chinese Professional Communication, Department of East Asian Languages and Literature (EALL), College of Letters and Science.Presenters:Rania Huntington, associate professor, EALL; Naomi McGloin, professor, EALL; Gary Sandefur, dean, L&S.This undergraduate-level certificate is supported through the Madison Initiative for Undergraduates.UAPC Doc 2012.04.19.07.

10.Approval Item – Establish a dual degree Law (JD)-Master of Public Health (MPH).This proposal is a partnership of the Law School and the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH).Although the proposal labels this as a joint degree, this will be a dual degree in which the students meet the requirements of and earn both degrees, albeit with more efficiency than in a sequential format. The dual degree format is in keeping with a number of other MPH dual degrees.Presenters: Pat Remington, associate dean, SMPH; Barbara Duerst, MPH program; Heinz Klug, associate dean, Law School; Sarah Davis, clinical professor, Law School; Kathleen Noonan, clinical professor, Law School. 11.Discussion/Approval Items Item – Certificate Guidelines.Presenter:Jocelyn Milner, director of Academic Planning and Analysis.These guidelines have had several rounds of review and are ready to be considered for approval. UAPC Doc 2012.04.19.10.

12.Information Item – Items for upcoming meetings include the annual report from the General Education Committee (May), an undergraduate Certificate in Digital Studies (May), a Master of Engineering option in Sustainable Systems (May), a report from the sub-committee on suspending/discontinuing degrees/majors (May), the joint review of the MA-Gender and Women’s Studies (May), the joint review of the MS-Occupational Therapy (May), and the joint review of the Doctor of Audiology (June).
