Objectives: The implementation of Lumen has created an environment where program and course information increasingly interact and require coordination and understanding of how the planning processes for both to work. Convening this group will provide a way for Academic Planning and Institutional Research to make available training and information about various aspects of the academic and curricular planning process including the technical aspects of the software systems, policies and procedures, and program review.
This is also an opportunity to provide a forum for discussion about emerging issues and questions related to specific proposals inasmuch as it is beneficial to the group. Provides the tools for curating a group of campus-level experts in every school and college.
Scope: School/college and campus level academic and curricular planning topics
Expectations: It is recommended that each school and college have at least one representative at each meeting. This meeting will be used to provide information and announcements that may not be available in detail in other forums. Meeting agendas will be posted three days (on Tuesday) before the meeting.
- Receive training on a variety of aspects of the academic and curricular planning processes and the Lumen System
- Participate in a peer-to-peer network, share ideas and discuss opportunities for collaboration
- Access to a forum for professional development about various aspects of academic and curricular planning process
- Identify opportunities to further enhance and improve the academic and curricular planning processes at the school/college and campus levels.
Intended Participants: Those in the schools and colleges with administrative responsibilities for any aspect of the proposal and approval process for courses, programs and other elements of the academic structure. Campus partners from offices that interact with the academic and curricular planning process or the academic structure (Office of the Registrar, Student Learning Assessment, Graduate School etc.).
Number of Meetings, Length, and Frequency: Usually the third Friday of the month, 3:00 – 4:30pm from August to May.
Meeting Location: 260 Bascom Hall. Computers will not be available on site so bringing a laptop, tablet, etc. is encouraged.
