APPROVAL ITEMS

8.     Approval Item – Wisconsin Institute of Manufacturing Innovation, College of Engineering.  Presenters: Gerald Kulcinski, associate dean, College of Engineering; Neil Duffie, professor of Mechanical Engineering.   UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.06

9.     Approval Item – Discontinue the offering of the undergraduate major Theatre and Drama in association with the Bachelor of Science-Education degree, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education.  The Theatre and Drama major will continue to be offered in the College of Letters and Science in association with the BA and BS degrees.  The change will be effective Summer 2013.  Presenter:  David Rosenthal, associate dean, School of Education.  UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.07

10.  Approval Item – Discontinue the Education Certification associated with the undergraduate major Classical Humanities (Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education).  There are no other changes for this major and Classical Humanities will continue to be associated with the BA and BS degrees in the College of Letters and Science as they are currently.  The change will be effective Summer 2013.  Presenter:  David Rosenthal, associate dean, School of Education.  UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.08

11.  Approval Item – Five-year review of the MS-AgroEcology, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.  Presenter:  Richard Straub, review committee chair and UAPC member.  Also attending to represent the program will be Randy Jackson, professor of Agronomy and member of the AgroEcology program faculty.  The five-year review was initiated under the guidelines for joint reviews – five-year reviews conducted jointly with UW System Administration – and so some of the format carries over from that process.  UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.09  (The full self-study is not in your packet; it is posted online. UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.09.A)

12.  Approval Item – Five-year review of the Master of Public Health, School of Medicine and Public Health.  Presenter:  LD Oakley, review committee chair and UAPC member.  Also attending to represent the program will be Tom Oliver, professor of Population Health Sciences, and Barbara Duerst, executive director of the MPH program.  The five-year review was initiated under the guidelines for joint reviews and so there is carry-over in the format from that process.   UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.10  (The full self-study is not in your packet; it is posted online. UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.10.A)

13.  Approval Item – Five-year program review guidelines. Presenter:  Jocelyn Milner, director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research.  These guidelines are proposed to replace the previous guidelines.  In August 2012, the Board of Regents approved a change in policy that eliminated the joint review as a step in the approval process but still requires UW institutions to conduct reviews at the five-year mark for new degree/major programs.  UAPC Doc 2013.04.18.11
